Walden Trails, Sudbury, Ontario
Singletracks built by mountain bikers, for mountain bikers!
If you love to ride on singletrack trails, you must bring your mountain bike to the Walden Trails in Sudbury, Ontario.
Our trails are located in the 350 acre Walden Trails Park (formerly the Naughton Trail Centre) off Regional Road 55 in Naughton, which is in the west end of the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The terrain is rolling to moderately hilly, with numerous rock outcrops, typical of the Precambrian Shield found across Northern Ontario. The trails are cut to take advantage these features.
The 16 km of singletrack trails are maintained by the WMBC. They are open once they dry out in early June and close as early as Oct 15th. Some of the lower trails hold the moisture, so wait 4-6 hours after a heavy rain before you ride. The rock, roots and bridge sections can be slippery during a rain and for several hours after, so this is another time to avoid using the trails. The trails can remain open after Oct 15th when conditions remain dry, so watch our website end-of-season updates.
Regarding e-bikes, only Class 1 e-bikes are allowed on the Walden Trails.
For the traditionalist, a printable trail map can be found in our Document Centre. We also keep paper trails maps at our trail head. Consider making a donation if you need one.
For the on-line and mobile device crowd, check out Trailforks to see our trails in an interactive format. Trailforks has a great mobile app. You can see all our trails with ratings and elevation profiles. The App will show you where you are on the trail system. You can link Trailforks to your Strava account so the Club can keep stats on how often our trail are ridden.

Our Gnomes ride the trails regularly, but not every day (but we wish we could!). If you notice something on the Walden Trails that needs the attention of our Trail Gnomes, drop an email to info@waldenmbc.ca and we'll get to it. Trees can fall, bridges can break and rocks can roll, so let us know if you see something that has created a hazard.
