Winter Fat Biking at Walden
Winter Fat Biking Trail Fees at the Walden Trails
For 2023, Walden Cross Country and WMBC are partnering and offering winter fat biking at the Walden Trails on some single track snowshoe trails. This is fourth year for this partnership. The membership fees are set to recover insurance costs, operating costs of the groomer and fuel. We still use volunteers to do the grooming.
You need to buy a day pass or a membership to ride on the Walden Trails in the winter. You have four options:
Buy a $15 day pass or $12 evening pass at the Chalet
Buy a $15 day pass or $12 evening pass - online
Buy a $102 winter fat bike membership
Buy a $143 ski membership (so you can ski too!)
There are two riding options at Walden this winter:
Fat Biking on Snowshoe Trails (aka Groomed Single Tracks)
The WMBC is grooming some of the snowshoe trails, so they should be ride-able almost all the time, except after snowstorms and in mild weather. Look to the website for the current conditions.
Trail Closures: Skiing events at the Walden Trails may close the trail system to Fat Biking, so check the website before heading out to the Chalet. The two Clubs are partnering to allow Fat Bikers on the trails in the winter.. The partnership will continue if fat bikers to show how they can share the space and be courteous to other trails users (Snowshoers and Skiers). If it proves difficult to manage the interactions between the three trail user groups, this partnership may end.
