The Walden Mountain Bike Club’s WolfPak Racing Team came through with an outstanding performance at the Provincial Mountain Bike Championships held today at Horseshoe Valley Resort near Barrie.


Samantha DEMERS captured the silver medal in the Senior Sport Female 19-29 division and also became the 2013 Ontario Cup Series Overall Series Champion in her division.


The WolfPak totally dominated the Senior Expert 19-29 Male field with five WolfPak members finishing in the top 11 spots. Charlie REID (5th), Nicholas TAVCHANDJIAN(6th), Dominic Girard(8th), Scott Phillips(10th) and Paul GUENETTE(11th) all had great results. Paul GUENETTE claimed the 2013 Ontario Cup Series Overall Title while Charlie REID finished 3rd overall for the series in their division. Nicholas Carrier of Val Caron captured the 2013 Ontario Cup Overall Series Title in the Try an OCup Male division 


The Wolfpak Racing Team has established itself as a true force in the mountain bike racing community. A member of the Wolfpak has stood on the podium at every single Ontario Cup race it has competed in since the team formed in 2010. The club is also highly respected for it’s fun loving and “ambassador for the sport” mentality. The team will finish off the racing season by going to the Fall 8 hr relay event in Hardwood Hills on September 28th, then to another 8 hr event in North Bay on October 5th and finally the 50 km Singletrack Challenge at hardwood Hills on October 20th. WolfPak Racing Team Stands on the Podium Again at the Ontario Cup Race in Mansfield


The Walden Mountain Bike Club’s WolfPak Racing Team stood on the podium once again thispast weekend. The WolfPak sent a pack of 7 racers to the Plastiglas Ontario Cup XC Race at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre on Sunday.

Paul Guenette (19-29 Expert Male) and Scott Phillips (19-29 Sport Male) both placed 2nd in their divisions. Crystal Sabel made the jump up to Senior Elite Female this year and crossed the line in 4th place for her first result while Alex Anstice (30-39 Master Sport Male) also posted a 4th place result. Charlie Reid finished 11th, Dominic Girard and Nikko Tavchandjian came in 22nd and 23rd in the 19-29 Expert Male field.

The Wolfpak will tackle the punishing climbs of Sir Sam’s Ski/Bike Centre in Haliburton on June 9th, 2013 for Ontario Cup #3 and will then race here in Sudbury on July 14th when the Walden Mountain Bike Club, the City of greater Sudbury and Pulse Racing bring the Canada Cup XC Mountain Bike Series to the Naughton Trails.

2013 Summer Youth Skills Program

The program is held on 6 Sundays during the summer, skipping long weekends and Club event weekends.

Dates:    Jun 23, Jul 7, Aug 11, Aug 18, Aug 25, Sep 8

Time:    10:00 am to noon (before it gets too hot)

Where:   Naughton Trails, 1 Denis Ave, Naughton, ON

Cost:      The fee for the program is $25

               A $25 WMBC youth membership is required

The program is open to children aged 9 to 13.  Children 14 and older are encouraged to come out to the regular group rides on at Naughton Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 8:30 and Sundays 10:00 to 12:00.  Check out for times and locations of the Saturday rides that will rotate between sites in Sudbury.


The sessions are designed to give children the basic skills needed to enjoy riding on single track trails.  The program sessions focus on the skills necessary for bike control, getting over obstacles as well as climbing and descending hills. Included are discussions trail etiquette and learning how to set-up the bike for safe riding.


Each session will consist of a "skill of the day" with games or drills and a trail ride on the lower section.


This is the third year we have offered this program and are keeping the cost low to encourage participation.  Enrollment is limited to 12 as we have a limited number of coaches.   We have more coaches being trained this spring, so may be able to offer more sessions.
